Praying For Amelia

Well little Amelia is still letting the doctors and nurses become educated in the effects of living years of neglect inside the walls of an institution.  Many of these medical staff have never truly encountered a child like Amelia.  I remember when Carrington was brought to the hospital some of the staff literally broke down in tears for the shear terror they saw before their eyes.  Without a history of the baby being in utero, without knowledge of what childhood illnesses or injuries, without history of immunizations etc doctors must often start from a different point than they would if a child had all of that information.  With Jenny's extensive medical knowledge as a PICU, flight, and ICU nurse not to mention her experience as an adoptive mom of several children with special needs she has actually had to tell  guide the medical staff into a different way of thinking and methodology because she knows her daughter.

One procedure Amelia will be having tomorrow is a very thorough examination, under anesthesia, of her teeth. Many of her teeth are rotten and possible even abscessed.  Jenny and I have been talking about this being a possible cause for her not wanting to eat.  That was the case with Carrington and she had to have all of her teeth removed.  We did not know that until the dental surgeon went in just as the dentist caring for Amelia does not know the exact outcome.  Please pray for the dentist's hands to be steady and quick and for any possible issues with Amelia's teeth to be resolved tomorrow.

Right now Amelia is receiving her nutrition via an NG tube because she just is not taking what she needs to by mouth and her body is not one that has a whole lot of reserve.  The infamous NoNos have been placed and Amelia does not think she likes them too well:)

The good news is that Amelia is showing her own personality and fighting spirit. She loves visits from her siblings and  mommy.  Let's continue to shower Amelia with notes, cards etc until she is the star of the hospital!!  We love you sweet Amelia!!!
