Excited About Project T.L.C..

Wow! Us moms have been working hard to get Project T.L.C. off the ground. You all helped us with fundraisers for much needed items for an institution in Crimea as well as to help with the cost of an eye surgery for a young boy from Ukraine. Thank you! Thank you! Now we are gearing up for our first visit to Crimea in hopes of introducing ourselves to people in various situations. Our goal is very simple: help the 99 left behind. True, we do have our long term goals, and boy were those hard to narrow down, but for right now we must realize we are very much like the children we adopt from the orphanages in that things must be taken slowly and very carefully. While it is so true that we cannot understand how people can treat the children in such an inhumane way (of which us moms can attest to first hand) we still must not come in with guns blazing. We must let God show us where and what we are to do first. It has been many hours of planning on the part of Stephanie, Boston, and myself but we feel God is leading us over and we are gearing up for this trip. I have to admit it will be so different to go over there and not be under the rule of someone else and not be aware of what is going on but the hardest part I am anticipating not only with this trip but with any other trip we take back there is not bringing home a beautiful child. Even when we adopted both times it was emotionally devastating to know there were so many little ones we would see day after day but could not help. Project T.L.C. hopes to be able to change that. We are not in the adoption realm but rather in the realm of just wanting to help the children who are left behind.

Boston, adopted a sweet little girl from Simferopol, has set up a most tempting fundraiser for Project T.L.C. and boy oh boy do I wish I lived in NE right now as I would certainly make my way there. You can read about this very creative idea here. If you live close I think you might need to make a day of it and go have some fun. Take note of the very cute princess that is featured in the article. Madelaine and I are gearing up to make more weighted lap blankets so if you all would like one please feel free to email me.

So, what are we hoping to accomplish this trip? Well, our main goal is to establish contact with orphanage personnel and to really find out the needs of the children. Since this is our first trip over there in this capacity I think of it as a fact finding mission trip so that we can regroup once we return to the U.S.A. and see where God leads us on our next trip. At this time we would like to ask you for prayers for our safety as we travel, for the people we need to make contact with that they will be open to allowing us to work with them for the good of the children, and most importantly that we will be examples of God's people to those we meet. I want to also thank those who have so generously helped to fund our trip. I know so many things are happening in your lives and so your financial gifts are truly appreciated and we know are going to make a difference. Right now I do not have all the details for our trip but when we do return I hope to share with you all some very exciting news of our work as well as pictures.
