In December God knew. He knew and He heard. Our family needed some fun. We needed time to let loose and have fun. The days had been stressful, exhausting, and preoccupied with matters conflicting of our desires. I had my usual time with God, out working in the yard, and my heart just shared the pain I had been feeling and the struggles my family was experiencing. Please give us some time Lord to just come together.
That same night a friend offered us her condo down in Orlando, Florida for a whole week. And the amazing part is that time coincided with Brian's vacation he scheduled before life turned down a different road. It was settled. Our family was going on vacation. Brian and I talked about how often Madelaine is such a help to us yet never complains so we decided to invite a couple of very special friends to come along.
Imagine the logistics of preparing our family to head out for a week long vacation. Not insurmountable but definitely requiring the heads of both our friend Sarah and myself (note I did not say Brian as he would just travel with his swim trunks if he could). Soon bags were packed and family dressed and out the door we went.
Upon arrival it was noted that the triplets were going to be MIA due to their little selves not overcoming the infamous sickness going around. They would not be able to be out and about and handle things well so our lovely Miss T took care of them and did so with a smile. We love Miss T. Guess we will have to vacation again in order for the city of Orlando to be fully entertained by the Burman Bunch.
Florida was so incredibly beautiful!! Reminded me of my California with the sun, beach, and palm trees. We spent a lot of time just being lazy and swimming in the 7 pools located on the property or taking in a nap or two. Sometimes it was just playing a game or working on our dance moves to Just Dance 3 and 4. Oh my whoever invented those moves did not do so for those parents who are approaching their upper years. Reagan sure got a kick out of it. We even filmed her doing her version of dancing and sent it back to her director in Ukraine.
Then the creme-de-la-creme came in the form of another gift to our family and that was the chance to go to some of the theme parks located in Orlando. We only had a short few days so some of us went to some parks on one day and then of course we all went together on another day. The day we went was drizzly and cool but we still had lots of fun and made so many memories. That was exactly what I had wanted: FAMILY MEMORIES. So many things in life can be taken from you whether by accident or by intent but nothing can take away the memories you create. Granted that Carrington and Benjamin are too young to really realize just how much fun we were having but the pictures we took will tell them a story so one day when they are older we can share that memory with them.
Now for the two special friends who joined Madelaine. Well, these two girls are actually the daughters of two of my dearest friends: Jenny and Stephanie. The girls all have so many things in common: they are the same age, the oldest in their family, and all three girls have siblings who are adopted. This would be a time for the girls to go and just have fun. The best part of this is that none of the girls had met prior to this trip. Only us moms had. But let me tell you, these girls had fun! It was so wonderful to watch three intelligent, thoughtful, and selfless girls get together and just do whatever! It was also nice for me to watch how loving the girls were to my children. I did warn them in advance of Ethan's tendency to wear only his underwear and so they were well prepared. Good news: we were able to successfully bribe Ethan to keep his clothes on while we had company. I think Ethan felt like he had died and gone to heaven with two very pretty girls vacationing with us. Even to this day he talks about Sasha and Claudia and how fun they were.
Thank you to our friends who made this needed and prayed for trip happen for our family. This was not something we could have done without them. Thank you T. family! We had the time of our lives!!
