June 12th-Taking Evelyn for respite was such a hard journey for me to take. Brian and I knew we had to acknowledge what her doctor was recommending but that is hard for a parent to swallow. Yet if people stop and think about it, as parents we will go to the end of the earth if that is what we were told that by doing so there would be a chance it will help. A chance. Okay that's what we need to do: give Evie a chance. Respite is defined as an interval of rest or relief. Evelyn struggles from many diagnosis. Some she was born with and some as a result of living her life in an institution. Trying for the past 2 years to "fix" whatever they did to her has brought frustration because it was not helping her. So, following our doctor's medical advice we wanted to give Evelyn the chance she deserves.
