Peek-A-Boo

Guess who has discovered the game of peek-a-b00? Princess Carrington! To watch Carrington each day is like opening up a gift you never knew you deserved. Carrington has brought so much joy and contentment to our lives. Brian and I constantly comment to each other "can you even believe this is our same daughter from just a mere 9 months ago?"

Just as a parent who gives birth to their child must spend time learning what their child's specific needs are and stresses are we too have had to learn those about Carrington. In the beginning Carrington fussed so much and would pull her hair literally out of her head and we could not figure out why. I would cry at night because I should know what was wrong with my little girl. After all, I am her mommy. But that is not the truth. God gives us our children all in different ways and with different needs. The only one who knows all from the beginning is God Himself. We never could take Carrington out very long because she would start to fuss so bad and then either pull her hair out or dig at her thumbs until she reached the bone. Now we know what to look for when she shows signs of stress and we can avoid them. That has not only been great for Carrington but also for me as far as the bonding between my youngest daughter and myself. Today I had Carrington out for most of the day doing all sorts of things and I knew just what she needed and when and guess what? She had an incredible day! I can even tell you that for the first time since she has been home she slept in the car during some of the errands. She also is getting to experience a gift she has never known and that is freedom. Carrington roams all over the house and where people are she has to be. I cannot believe she can do all she is doing and not a single one of us minds it one little bit:)

Carrington loves the phone and she rolled and wriggled her way into her big sister's room where she spied sister's phone.
"Ah ha! Score one for the Princess! I have sister's phone and I am not afraid to use it!"

It has taken time to get to know our Princess and in many ways we still are getting to know her but the most amazing part of it all is that I feel the connection to my little girl growing stronger every day and I am eating it all up. We can see that Carrington is developing a personality as well as stronger muscles. Her intelligence amazes us each day and we like to say "she's advanced!" She knows how to work her daddy and how to make her mommy's heart melt. One of Carrington's favorite times is when she is on our bed and we play with her. That is what we did this night and it was our entertainment for the evening. God sure is the best producer and director of all entertainment ! Oh how I love this little girl!
