Changes for Carrington

We discovered that when we moved Carrington from her infant car seat where she was snug and sort of protected from all the noise etc of the world around her it really stressed her out. So out I went in search of a big car seat where she would feel more secure.
This car seat has a lot more padding and yet goes up to 65lbs. She was not too happy because I was fidgeting with her in it trying to adjust the straps.
Due to a certain princess now having so much fun in her own crib we have had to figure out a way for her cord not to wrap around her neck like it has.
So this is my solution...split a swim noodle in half lengthwise and string the cord through it.
Honest mom it really wasn't me who was wrapping my feed cord all around my neck because I was having a party in my crib!
Carrington took her first feed from a bottle. At first she had no idea how this substance was getting in her mouth.
Then she started catching on to this stuff they call food with perfect tongue positioning; no tongue thrust.
Look at her licking her lips after finishing.
Now she is in a food coma. Reminds me of the character Garfield after he eats a lasagna.
Check out that very happy and full belly of little Miss Princess!

the myride is a great seat! Keeping her rear facing for as long as possible is also great given her muscle weakness. The myride is perfect for this. The manual states on page 49 that if the child is over the top two slots the support pillows cannot be used. The seat would be outgrown by height when she has less than an inch between her head and the shell of the seat or over 40 pounds when rear facing. Many people think that they should turn their children when their legs are touching the back of the seat. This is not true at all. Forward facing a child who has low muscle tone can be fatal if they are in a car accident.

for more information car-seat.org is a great resource

Great idea with the noodle! How wonderful she took the bottle. What wonderful bonding too...I'm sorry you've missed out on that so far. :-(

That tummy is delicious. And I'm SO thrilled she caught on to bottle feeding. Hopefully she'll transition to taking more feeds orally with relative ease. You're all still in our prayers! Love these posts! It makes me so happy to see that sweet girl.

What a clever Mommy Miss Carrington has! I'm curious, why do you have her hands covered lately? Is she fiddling with things she shouldn't?

Aw look at how big she is getting! Does the noodle work? Does it ever fall or pull on the cords? I ask because no one can tell me how to keep my sons chords from wrapping around his neck. It terrified me. We stopped night feeds and I feel like I can breath, but if he needs to get them again I dunno what I will do?

Be blessed

What a lovey!

Did you guys trim her hair back because she was pulling? It looks really short compared to length she'd gained. I know you mentioned when she was stressed she was pulling her hair, which I why we've been seeing her little stockinged hands...

did she get a trim too or did she actually do that herself?

I love her sweet little face and pug nose!

Very clever to use the swim noodle. perhaps you should go into business selling thinner versions specially designed for picc lines, feeding tubes, or catheter/colostomy lines! I'm sure you'd make a killing! lol.
