We CAN'T Forget and We WON'T!!!

Not long ago we were made aware of a documentary being made of orphanages and institutions in Bulgaria and through another friend we soon were watching another documentary about orphans in Ukraine that not only represented some orphans but also about what happens to them when they grown up.
 Orphans usually are not allowed to be adopted after the age of 16.  At that point they are turned out into the streets or before then are sent to adult mental institutes with even more horrid conditions than at the orphanages.  Now, quite often the majority of attention is shed on directors who don't care and orphanages that are so horrid we cannot conceive places or people like this exist. Then...

 you watch this documentary and see how that is not always the case.

 You watch this documentary saying you will watch just a few minutes and then come back to it, only you don't watch JUST a few minutes but rather you watch the whole video because you are drawn in to learn more.

 You watch this documentary and you wipe away tears of both joy that there is a director who cares and that there are happy endings to some stories;

and then you wipe away tears at all the sadness that does not have to be.

 This is why we need to make a difference NOW!!

 Not when the time is right.
Not when we have reached that point in our career.
Not when we have $25,000 sitting around with no purpose.
Not when the "right" child comes along.
NOW!!!    NOW!!!  NOW!!!
Adoption is hard. Adoption is expensive. Adoption requires trusting some unknowns.  BUT it is also  a beautiful thing,a blessing and the very thing that has brought so many families together with their child.

There are some families who truly cannot adopt for various reasons but that does not mean they cannot make a difference.  Just look at how you can help this director give his children the stimulation they so desperately need to keep from turning to those orphanage behaviors for stimulation.  See how you can work with Sheltering-Wings or Project Hopeful or even TBACT as a volunteer who goes to these orphanages to work with, play with, love on these children.

We have a voice.  They do not.  Please let us not forget that and let's do something about it.  Had someone not stepped up to do these things at Reagan's institution I can honestly say I would not be the mom of such a well adjusted and happy child.  Had someone not recognized the need I know there would be so many children in Bulgaria who would not be alive because they did not have the blessing of a baba to love them.

My friends, we CANNOT and MUST NOT forget these creations of God!
